   SOUTHWEST ORAL HISTORY ASSOCIATION

2004 Annual Meeting Scholarships Available

     In 2004, SOHA will award one or more scholarships to enable deserving individuals to attend the association's annual meeting, “Crossing Boarders: Negotiating Oral History Theory and Practice in a Digital World,” to be held in San Diego April 30-May 2, 2004. 

In addition to attending the meeting, scholarships will also allow individuals to participate in either an introductory or advanced oral history workshop.

Students, teachers, independent oral historians, and individuals affiliated with nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply. 

Each scholarship will include conference and workshop registration and a cash award of up to $250 to defray the expense of travel and accommodations.

The application letter should include:

bullet

a statement of the applicant's financial need;

bullet

an indication of the level of financial support, if any,
that is offered by the applicant's institution or employer;

bullet

a paragraph explaining how the scholarship will advance
the applicant's goals in the field of oral history

bullet

Applicants must also provide the committee with the names
and phone numbers of two professional or academic references.

The application postmark deadline is February 1, 2004.
Scholarship recipients will be notified by March 15, 2004.
